As the name suggests, the star feature of the Atrix HD is its 4.5-inch, high-definition ColorBoost 720x1,280-pixel LCD display, which Motorola says is the highest resolution smartphone display on the market. The Atrix HD packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording, zero shutter lag and a front-facing 720p HD camera.

The latest smartphone ready for AT&T Relevant Products/Services's 4G Relevant Products/Services, long-term evolution network Relevant Products/Services arrives in the carrier's stores on Sunday for $99.

The Motorola Atrix HD follows up the Atrix 4G and Atrix 2, previously available on AT&T, but will ship with Android Relevant Products/Services 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, the next-to-newest operating system from Google, which recently finished acquiring Motorola Mobility.

Thin, Tough and Sharp

Measuring at an ultra-thin 8.4 millimeters, the Atrix HD is being marketed as supertough, too, with Kevlar coating and water protection as well as a new, pre-loaded app, Smartactions, which automatically switches settings during the day, such as reading text messages aloud while in a Vehicle Dock or extending the battery by disabling unused features such as GPS.

The Vehicle Dock is available free at participating locations for a limited time to raise awareness of safe driving.

The Atrix HD, with a dual-core, 1.5-gigahertz processor and 1 gigabyte of RAM, is the first smartphone to include Motorola's Circle Widget on the home screen, to give you access to AT&T account data Relevant Products/Services as well as the time, notifications, local weather and the battery meter.

But as the name suggests, the star feature of the Atrix HD is its 4.5-inch high-definition ColorBoost 720x1,280 LCD display, which Motorola says is the highest resolution smartphone display on the market. The Atrix packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording, zero shutter lag and a front-facing 720p HD camera.

"Our customers look to their smartphones to provide new, compelling experiences and the Motorola Atrix HD does just that," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president for devices at AT&T Mobility. "With features that automatically customize over time to be contextually aware of the user's daily routine and preferences, Atrix HD is a great example of smartphones getting smarter."

The Atrix HD comes as AT&T extends its LTE Relevant Products/Services high-speed data service to an additional six markets, for a total of 80 million people in 47 markets, though it still lags behind Verizon Wireless, which had a yearlong head start and now covers more than 300 cities.

AT&T expects to cover its current 3G and HSPA+ footprint with LTE by the end of next year. (continued...)
