Mobile Virtualization Pioneer Open Kernel Labs Named a Finalist In Red Herring 2009 Global 100 Awards


Chicago – January 13, 2010 - Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs), the leading provider of mobile Relevant Products/Services virtualization Relevant Products/Services software for mobile phones and broadband Internet devices, today announced that it has been selected as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Global Awards, a prestigious list honoring the world's most promising private technology ventures.

The Red Herring editorial team selected the most innovative companies from a pool of 1,200. The nominees were evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management Relevant Products/Services, execution of global strategy, and integration into their respective industries.

"This year was especially difficult," said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. "Despite the global economic situation, there were many great companies producing really innovative and amazing products that we had a difficult time narrowing the pool and selecting the finalists. Now we're faced with the arduous task of selecting the final 100 winners of the award. We know that this year's crop will grow into some amazing companies that are sure to go far."

Over the past twelve months, deployment of OK Labs solution has doubled from 250 million mobile devices into more than 500 million devices. OKL4 now ships on cutting-edge smartphones such as the HTC G1 and G2, the HTC Hero, the Motorola Droid and Cliq, the Palm Pre, and the Toshiba TG01OK. Moreover, the OKL4 Microvisor now powers the world's first and only commercially-available fully-virtualized smartphone, the Motorola Evoke QA4.

The company also forged partnerships with ST-Ericsson, the world's second largest wireless chipset manufacturer, and with enterprise Relevant Products/Services virtualization company, Citrix Systems, enabling new opportunities for OK Labs in the burgeoning mobile virtualization ecosystem.
