Celebrating its 10-year anniversary in the United States, T-Mobile is also giving its customers something to celebrate: a new unlimited nationwide 4G data plan.
T-Mobile USA debuted in September 2002 and has pushed the wireless -carrier envelope, first by launching the Sidekick, an all-in-one wireless device with an unlimited data plan. Of course, data consumption has exponentially multiplied since then, but T-Mobile has clocked a number of other innovations over the years.
For example, T-Mobile offered the industry's first personal coverage check in 2005, providing customers with a transparent view of network coverage. The wireless carrier also offered the first Wi-Fi calling service in the U.S. in 2002 and launched the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1 with Google in 2008.
T-Mobile's Claims
"Since our inception, we've always strived to shake up the industry with plans, network capabilities, and innovative products and services for our customers," said Brad Duea, senior vice president, product management of T-Mobile USA. "Today's release of our Unlimited Nationwide 4G data plan continues our tradition of bold moves that enhance the customer experience and change the way wireless is done."
With its latest announcement, T-Mobile is now claiming it is the only carrier with a nationwide 4G network to offer unlimited nationwide 4G data. The plan has no data caps, no speed limits and no overages.
Other unlimited data plans throttle users after they hit certain data usage caps. However, T-Mobile's least-expensive version of the plan is $70 a month and its network relies on HSPA+, a slower technology than the long-term evolution networks being rolled out by many of its rivals.
T-Mobile is offering customers who activate a new two-year contract on an Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan to tap into a sale on some smartphones in its 4G line up, including the HTC One S with a zero down payment after a $50 mail-in rebate card. The remaining $450 can be paid in 20 monthly installments of $20 without any interest.
The Multiple-Device Trend
Brad Shimmin, an analyst at Current Analysis, told us T-Mobile has to find every advantage it can to compete in a crowded wireless-carrier market -- and one of the current differentiators, especially given today's media-hungry mobile devices, are the way data plans are set up. T-Mobile is trying to remove as many restraints as possible in order to get noticed. (continued...)

May not be a cap per se, but I'm betting like most plans, once you hit a certain amount of data usage, you are bumped down a level to 3G or 2G service.

Everything has a cap; not one plan listed no cap.
